Busy Bee Is Me!!!
We spent the first two weeks of March in FL. One week for business and one week for baseball. I got to spend some of that time on the beach…Oh how I love the beach.
Busy because I am the team photographer…which means I take about 700 pictures per game, edit those pictures down to about 400, and upload them to the web for the coaches and players. The coach uses my pictures for the college website, the conference website, and local newspapers. Yes I am a published photographer ahem ahem!!! :) I love doing it but it is very time consuming so I have had to put my sweepstakeing on hold.
and every spring training trip needs a mohawk...
…along with the beard that will grow all season. "FEED THE BEARD" as he is fond of saying.
Ahhhh the beach!!!!
The sound of the surf, the warmth of the sun, and Starbucks!!! I'm a happy girl!!!

A Little Something to Brighten Your Day!
Upon opening the garage door, I noticed two additions: a baseball and a broken window sporting a baseball-sized hole. "How do you suppose this ball got in here?" I asked the boy.
Taking one look at the ball, one look at the window, and one look at me, the boy exclaimed, "Wow! I must have thrown it right through that hole!"

November.....Really!!!!
So October came and went and it was filled with lots of family fun. B's college baseball team is only allowed to play 18 innings during the fall (silly NCAA rules) so they played a double header at Seton Hill University. It was a beautiful day for baseball and I loved being on a baseball field watching my baby play. It was also a little sad because J graduated in the spring so this was the first game without him. :( It was great to be there photographing the team again but there wasn't a good spot because the fence around the field was just a little to high for little me so I stood (teetering) on my baseball chair and leaning on the top of the fence for the entire first game. Yep thats me doing anything for a good picture (or a good 500 pictures). Here are a few of B:
I'm a little out of practice centering the action shots.

College Baseball Season Has Come and Gone.
B has had a good season also (when he was able to play).
B started the season with high hopes. He was named to the Collegiate Baseball's NCAA Division III Players to Watch list. Entering the 2013 campaign after a fantastic freshman season that earned him ECAC and AMCC Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the AMCC All-Conference Second Team. He led the Redhawks in runs, hits, doubles, RBI's, and total bases and ranked in the AMCC's top 10 in batting average, on base percentage, hits, and RBI's.
Unfortunately this season he is only leading the team in injuries :(
Right off the bat (pun intended) in the very first inning of the very first game of the season he sprained his ankle sliding into 2nd base. They were playing on a turf field and his spikes got caught on the turf and his ankle and foot did not quite make it to the base with the rest of his body...ouch!
He rehabed with the trainer and used an ankle brace and the team (and hubby and I) headed to FL for a week of spring training. Towards the end of the week he played about 3 innings but tweaked it so back to ice and rest and rehab. As soon as his ankle was better he started playing again and was doing great.
He was named the AMCC Player of the Week and LRC's athlete of the week for the week of April 1, 2013.
For that week he hit .545 (6 for 11) with 5 RBI's, 3 runs, and 2 doubles in a 2-1 week. He went 3 for 5 against #7 Marietta, with 2 RBI and 2 doubles. In a sweep over Pitt-Greensburg, he hit .500 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Then in a game shortly after that he dove for a ball and hurt his hip. The trainer diagnosed a hip flexor pull and he was back to rest and rehab. After about 10 days he was feeling great and started playing again. 2 games in Erie on April 18th and then home for a double header on the 20th. The night before he had a little bit of swelling on the hip but he said it felt fine. He showed the trainer and since it didn't hurt at all and he could hit and run and play the base without any problem he played. He was doing fine till he dove for a ball landing on that hip. It was soar so he only hit in the next game and then pulled himself because it was hurting. He wanted to wait till the next day to have it looked at but I made him come home so I could take him to the urgent care near us. By the time he got home he could barely walk and the swelling was really bad so I took him to the hospital instead. They X-rayed the hip, the bone was fine. They gave him crutches and instructed him to ice it and keep it elevated. They said if it wasn't better in a few days to make an appointment with an orthopedic doctor. I didn't wait. I called and got him in to be seen the next day. They did more x-rays that were inconclusive so the doctor ordered an MRI of the hip and femur. The MRI confirmed her suspicions that he had a degloving injury. The muscle separated from the fascia and blood and fluid filled a large pocket in-between. (very rare for a baseball injury). This explains the huge swelling and the bruising was horrible. She tried to drain it but it was too thick. She wanted him compress the area and gave him a large ace bandage wrap and told him to also wear compression shorts. He was given exercises to do and he started seeing the trainer everyday to get deep tissue massage (he said this was very painful) and ultrasound to break up the fluid so that it would absorb quicker. After about a week and a half the swelling and bruising were so much better and he was able to hit in the last couple games of the season. So now he and J are home for the summer YAY. I love having them home.
So that's pretty much been my life the past 3 months. We just need to get the pool open and then it will be officially summer at our house.

Not Happy Sony...Not Happy at all!!!
I spent a good bit of time trying to figure out what was wrong with my camera without any luck. Not Happy!
Back at home now I went to a camera shop to have it looked at. They were stumped as well. He checked with the place they use for repairs and...are you sitting down...they stopped making my camera so this place won't even attempt to fix it...Great. Not Happy!
So I called Sony. Their flat rate for repairs is...are you still sitting down...$265.00!!! I spent a lot of money on this camera, I have only had it for 15 months and now I have to pay $265 to get it fixed. Not Happy! Enter Hubby..."What!!! Give me their phone number and all the camera information". 45 minutes later they are sending me pre-paid shipping labels and giving us 50% off the flat rate. Aren't Hubbies wonderful! This is all great but $132.50 is still a lot to pay. They should be doing it for free. An $800 camera should last more than 15 months. Not Happy!
I packed it up and shipped it off to them. I hope they get it back to me quickly.
One thing is for sure. I won't ever buy another Sony camera or anything Sony for that matter. Not Happy!!!

Don't Hate / Ipad2 Giveaway Ends Today!!!
I'm sitting in my hotel room looking out at the beautiful ocean. I could sit here all day. It's been very chilly here in FL but it is suppose to warm up tomorrow.
I know...you are asking yourself shouldn't she be on a baseball field right now??? They only have one game today and it is at 7:00 pm. I am going to have to take my winter coat.
They split with E-Town yesterday. Lost the first game 9-2 and won the second game 31-4. Neither of my boys are playing right now :( J has re-injured his pitching arm and Brian sprained his ankle last weekend in their first game @ waynesburg. We were hoping he would be ok for the trip but it is still hurting and better to wait till it heals. Maybe by the end of the week. In the meantime I was still planning on shooting the whole game as usual but in the middle of the first inning my camera just shut off and will not turn back on. No it is not the battery, I have two and they were both fully charged. I've done some research and tried some tips but so far nothing. It looks like I will be taking it to a camera store when we get back to see if it can be fixed. Of course the camera store that I bought it from a little over a year ago has closed so I don't know if anyone will honor my extended warranty.
So here are a few pics I got before the untimely death of my camera:

Spring had sprung/Bathroom reviews

Coming home from 2 weeks in FL to this beautiful spring weather has been so wonderful. Going to baseball games and not freezing...priceless. The boys continued to play well during the rest of their games in FL. The internet connection was horrible at our hotel so I couldn't keep you up to date on the games like I wanted to. It felt so good to be in the sun and between the games and the beach I got myself a nice head start on my summer tan :)
Vero Beach
Vero Beach was so nice. We stayed right on the beach and we were in walking distance of all these great little stores. I was only able to shop at a few of them because most of them are closed by 6pm. But it was nice to window shop after dinner.
Traveling is wonderful but for a crohnie it can be challenging...throw in hours and hours at baseball fields and the challenge can quickly become a nightmare. First of all eating on the run = eating foods that don't like me = pain/discomfort. Then theres the bathroom issue!!! Its hard enough to find clean bathrooms during the road trip but finding them at baseball fields...well lets just say I usually just don't eat. Well not this trip! I not only found many clean bathrooms during our 12 hours of driving (the more I travel the more I get to know the fast food places who have nice bathrooms) but the baseball fields all had REAL bathrooms that were clean and in great working condition. Oh and the one field had a great concession stand that sold all the typical baseball field foods but also sold fruit and vegie trays and granola bars....much better choices for me.
As you know the first week was baseball but the second week hubby was working which means playtime for me :) We left Vero Beach and drove to Ft. Myers for one day and I have to say the holiday inn we stayed in was the nicest holiday inn i've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in lots) Everything clean and new and in the restaurant a complimentary pasta bar with a chef who makes your dish right there and it was goooooood. Service was wonderful! We went to Ft. Myers to visit my cousin and her husband and go to lunch with them. Of course i spied an outlet mall so I went there first :) after racing through as many stores as possible we had a wonderful visit and lunch and then off to Bradenton for a day, dinner with a customer (where I experienced one of the few bad bathrooms of the trip...blah).
Next stop...my favorite place...
Ponte Vedra!!!
We usually stay at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Suites but they were completely booked so we stayed at the Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club (first time there for me)
...and I love it there too. Especially for the cooler months and I'll show you why!
(sorry these first two pictures are dark...I was too excited to check my camera settings)
Awesome and comfy window seat with a view of the ocean.
Balcony facing the ocean
A fireplace!!!
Balcony facing....
...the fire pit!
Also a great place to sit in the sun during the day and look out at the ocean.
All that and.....
...a lovely bathroom!!!

Procrastination
noun
the act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention: Insert picture of me :0
After much procrastination I finally called and scheduled an appointment with a new GI doctor. Dr. R. comes highly recommended by Dr. L. who I will miss tremendously.
The earliest appointment I could get was April 30th. I have to call and have my records faxed and they will be mailing me an information packet to fill out. I hope she sends the packet right away because with my medical history this paperwork should take about a week to fill out.
At least my Crohns beast has been behaving. I hope that continues up until and long after meeting my new doc.
I hope he will refer me right away to an arthritis doctor. My joints are still hurting so much.
On a better note baseball begins in a few days...I can't wait to go to a game. I can't wait to try out my new camera with its telephoto lens!!!

I still haven't gotten a new GI doc. I did call Dr. L and got a recommendation. I need to call and make an appointment soon. I only have 1 refill left on my meds so I better get that done.
January was a fun month. Spending time with G makes my days so much brighter.
Oh that face
and I love me these piggy toes
Now that the holidays are over I've been working on decorating my new walls and making some valentines day decorations. One of my other goals this year is to save money so if I can make it I don't have to buy it! I've found some great decorating and craft blogs. Here are a few pics of what I've done:
The two pictures in the middle were drawn by my son (sorry about the glare). I saw some valentine garland in Target but it was $10 so I made my own.
I left the snow and blue and silver balls from Christmas in these bottles. The I Love you ABC's is a free printable from a craft blog.
We hung some floating shelves above the TV. The painting was done by my son and a few more free printables.
My boys senior pictures...more glare ugh...my bad. B on the bottom is our artist.
I like the idea of winter decorations. I saw this idea in a magazine.
Guess what??? Its almost baseball season. The boys play their first game in VA on the 25th. This will be B's first college game. J has been at it for a few years now. I still can't believe they are at the same college and will be playing ball together again. I can't wait to watch them play and yes I'll be taking lots of pictures.
