Jumping Through Hoops / Thanks Careone

I had to jump through a few more hoops to get the 50% off the repair of my camera. I spent a good part of Tuesday morning on the phone with several people until I finally got them to actually give me the 50% off they promised hubby. Geeezzz so my camera is getting fixed but I have no idea when I will get it back. They mentioned 10 days for repairs. I hope it doesn't take that long.

First I want to thank @drugstoredotcom for the recent giveaway and the prize they sent me. I got it yesterday



Its going to be a hot gift for my valentine!!!

Yesterday I also had my 6 month follow up with my GI (after the horrible allergic reaction to the sulfasalizine). I haven't been on any Crohns medication for the past 6 months and I've been doing well mainly (I believe) because I've been being very good about sticking to my gluten free/dairy free diet. He is pleased with how well I'm doing without drugs so I am going to continue to just watch my diet. We do have to keep an eye on the area where I had my resection. This area has been inflamed and the scaring has caused a narrowing at the connection spot. So the good news is unless I have a problem I don't have to have another colonoscopy till 2014 YAY!!! The bad news is that if the area does get worse and does not respond to medication I may have to have surgery :(

Friday was Fabulous! Monday was Horrible!

Guess what I got on my Fabulous Friday

My free sample of rice cakes…Three…3…yes three different kinds of Quaker Gluten Free Rice Cakes. Lightly salted, caramel corn and apple cinnamon. I’ve tried the apple cinnamon already and I love them. At first I was thinking I’m sure these are ok but I bet I’m going to need to spread something on them to give them a little boast but what??? Nope they are very very good all by themselves.

Saturday was very rainy but relaxing. Sunday was sunny and warm and we spent the day doing more yard work and vacuuming the pool. That may sound like work but it really feels good to stand by the pool in the warm sun and guide the vacuum around. Yes I know the vacuum should go around on its own but it always goes in the same pattern and misses spots or gets stuck somewhere or clogged.

Well thank goodness for fabulous Friday and relaxing Saturday and Sunday because Monday….yeah Monday was just plain horrible! CT Scan horrible, contrast drinking injecting gagging horrible.

Wake up…No food for you.

Arrive at hospital…wait…fill out forms…wait…register…wait…get forms back…wait…get IV started

Drink 3 bottles of contrast similar to this (my bottles were bigger about 32oz each I think blah)



Gag, gag, gag, gag, almost throw up, squeeze hubs fingers off, gag, gag, tantrum, gag, gag, almost throw up, beg hubs to drink some for me but even my most pathetic face can’t convince him (can’t say I blame him), gag, gag, must find bathroom (over about 45 min.) (vow [like I always do during this test] that I will NEVER have this test again)

Wow what a day…

Yesterday was a good day!

First: I commented on the blog Quaker Large Rice Cakes Now Labeled Gluten-Free and Giveaway at http://glutenfreefun.blogspot.com/ and won the giveaway, a free sample of Quaker Gluten Free Rice Cakes. I’m so excited, I never win anything. Well that’s not really true. For some reason I always win A LOT of gifts but only at wedding and baby showers. It’s really kind of strange and my family (well my sisters) gets very annoyed. I walk out of these showers with almost as much as the bride or mom to be. At one shower they were pulling names for a door prize, my name had already been pulled so my niece said “Come stand by me so I win something”. I went over and……..she won lol.

Second: I qualified for a survey about Crohns Disease and they are sending me a check for $50.00. YAY!!!

Other than that it was a lazy Thursday. We are in between baseball seasons so I’m enjoying a nice break. It feels good to stay home and eat!!! I’ve been lounging around in my sweats with my hair pulled back and no makeup….it feels so nice. However, I am getting absolutely nothing done around the house… “I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow.” (She says in her Scarlett O’Hara voice)

I did make my first loaf of gluten free white bread. I’ve made several cinnamon and raisin loafs which I love but I wanted some gluten free bread for making sandwiches. I was very pleased with the outcome. I used a Red Mill Mix and it mixed up easily and baked up light (not heavy like some mixes) and made a good sandwich.
